It needs to be that big so I can drive over Honda Civics when they don't go the speed limit.

Jamesypoo

Err.. not width. I mean, depth?? Width in the rear is 10" :D

Honda Civics can't go the speed limit. They were built to be driven no less than 125 mph.

nDeeds. The depth of the tread is about an inch. The tires are 12" wide at the wheel, and about 14-15" at the bulge. At 35" high are probably higher than your trunk.

My sister buys new tires for her bike...rides it for a break in ride, gets home.....nail in tire (although patchable, we don't allow this because of the speed we all ride at) so she gets new tires about a week later when she gets paid.....gets them on, we are going out for a night ride and we pull the bikes out to the front to warm up and as I'm sitting on mine letting it warm, there it is, nice shiny nail in her back tire :(

First, I know it's 4.6. I always put 4.8 on accident 'cause I mix the 3.8 from the V6's with the V8's, because I don't care enough.
And my car is slow, and a piece of shit. I never said any differently. It's not a race car. It's a daily driver. I get 25 MPG on a bad tank. How many MPG do you get in your little turbo 5.0? 13...? 14, maybe?
And it's 3.8L :fyi:

And I have seen ported 4.8L engines in Mustangs. But, tell me, did you do all the bending for your turbo? Or even install it yourself? Or did you get a shop to do it for you?
No shame in letting a shop do it. But I've done complete engine swaps on cars, and boats (which are surprisingly easy)... so, I mean, I'm not sure how much you know, exactly. But seeing how I'm the son of a mechanic, and I work with my Dad a lot... I probably know more.

I bought it as a kit, then me and two friends put it on in my garage with all the wrong tools. I had to buy a ratchet set and have my friends bring some of their tools to even finish it. We actually used a vice grips to "cut" the ac lines cuz thats all I had at the time.

bigtoyota479
05-29-2009, 06:30 PM
It's a long travel suspension kit. There is a difference.

I'm suspicious about the extra travel they give you without replacing the factory CV joints. I would think you'd need to get some aftermarket CV's as well that would take up the extra travel. The lift kit says something about using Porsche inner's on the axle shafts.

evildave101
05-29-2009, 06:31 PM
Downey provides longer 4340 axle shafts that route from the original equipment outer birfield CV joints to Downeys new 930 Porsche inner CV joints.
Downeys Porsche inner CV joints not only withstand a zillion horsepower, they also reach a 29 degree angle. This allows maximum tire droop/extension without resorting to lowering the front axle housing merely to protect the original equipment 22 degree inner CV joints.

They don't has fuel injection. Mine does. Also, it is an Extra cab, for more leg room. You give some, and lose some. The ultimate is a frankenstein of pre and post 86 yota's.

i think its leaking into the chamber

its a small leak. before i stoped driving it, it would be about a half to 3/4 of a gallon low after about 3 to 4 days

no signs of leaking on the block, no drips underneath it, no noticable smoke, no water in the oil, but after 3-4 days it would run hotter than normal and be low on water.

its at about 160,000 miles and prob. could use a timing chain too, as it was getting hard to start.

bigtoyota479
05-29-2009, 07:20 PM
I had a leaky gasket on mine, and the only evidence was a white streak on the block, in a spot that took me a week to find. NO drips, no smoke, no nothing, just that white streak.

Turns out the water was leaking out, evaporating, and leaving behind minerals and torched anti-freeze, hence the white spot.

Most of the time, if you have a leak into the chamber, your O2 sensor will trip because of the extra oxygen in the exhaust gases due to water vapor, IE steam. Not always, though, especially if it's a small leak.

the check engine light was on, had it checked out and was told it needed a new cat. converter?

This.

That's a sign that the O2 sensor is picking up extra O2, hence, the Head gasket is leaking into a chamber. Pull the plugs. The one that looks steam cleaned will have the blown gasket.

I have one. 1990, it's a work in progress though. Needs paint and a few body parts. New motor, tires, brakes, etc.

Or do you like the older ones?

I have no idea where that summit is. I have only driven from the west of Kansas to the shitty shitty east of it where Kansas City is. All the way from the West Coast. I am so glad I never have to do that again.

Did it in 48 hours too. I didn't want to stop and get get raped by a farmer.

Sweetness. Don't let them sell you a cat though. Also, you should be able to short a plug either under the dash or the hood, and it will flash the check engine light in a pattern. Either that or go get yourself a good OBDII reader for 50 bucks from the parts store, and never need a shop again.
