The sound card in my parents desktop crapped out, what are some low budget decent cards? There is nothing interesting being done on this computer, they just want to be able to hear sounds. I know Creative SoundBlasters used to be the shit a long time ago, are they still quality? What else is out there? Will be on a Vista machine.

why do you care about quality? the sound is going to be reproduced by 1.50 OEM speakers.

I meant quality as in it won't crap out after 2 months, not SQ.

Used onboard for so long I think the last card I actually bought was a soundblaster 16
if quality didn't matter you can put a $5 offer on CL and get a few bites.
i'll see if i have an old one laying around tonight.

M-Audio 2496 if you care about how it sounds.

I've got at least 5 at home. You pay shipping and you can have one (or 2). CL would be faster and as cheap or cheaper, I'd imagine.
