Anyone here ever use Boinc to do any sort of network computing? If you are saying WTF basically it uses your computer's idle time to do complex computing that would take scientists many a years to have their computers do. The reason this is faster is that they send out bits of data to anyone who signs up, you crunch the numbers, it sends it back and takes more. Also makes for a sweet screen saver.

The point....I was thinking we should setup a Crunktimes team. We all pick a single one of the @home projects to do (I've done Seti for a long ass time but just started Einstein at home) and then one of the mods creates a team and we can all add.

I'm a dork and you may be saying "eh" but I thought I'd throw it out there :)

What does it do?

When you are not using your computer, Stanford University uses it to basically number crunch / deconstruct protein cells. The results are/might cure diseases such as cancer and alziemers.

No, the team we fold for is MaximumPC Magazine, well their forum really. There is more than jsut me folding under my name. There is a handfull of us. Regardless though, for the small group folding under that name, it is still some serious fucking power. Prolly close to 30-50K in equipment I'd guess.

Nope. PS3 and default are all the people that don't know how to set it up right. There are a lot of dumbasses out there. lel

Nope, but when you are using your CPU it will back off. If you game I think you need to pause it while you play.
