I have finally had to make the switch from AVG to Avira.

At my wife's office where I had everyone on AVG for 3 years now had a failure finally. Her boss caught some trojan that pops up disguised exactly like a Security Essential Window. The looks were convincing but I knew by its behavior it was not.
\
Luckily, the boss did not try to do anything on her own. Basically it rendered any browser useless, because it would just pop this window up and prohibit the browser from loading. When hitting apply actions, it acted like it was unable to and gave a peculiar scan online button and shows a comprehensive lists of AVs it will look for solutions. I lolled when I seen that. I know damn well what this scam is. I shut down essentials and sure enough this window still pops up confirming my suspicion it is the trojan itself made to look exactly like an essentials alert.

Download Avira to another machine and transfer to thumb drive. Unistall AV software from target machine and load Avira. Scan, shot down and done. this sucker got past the AVG/Essentials combo I have been using for a few years now. Looks as though I will be an Avira follower until it fails me now.

The fucking things no matter what you use is going to be susceptible to some when others aren't.

Pl8er also put me on to Avira, lowest CPU usage or any of them and I don't see any real reason to buy a paid version.

I was actually more impressed that the boss knew better than to go any further trying to fix the issue this time. I am sure doing its "online scan" with multiple AVs would have suggested using some so called AV software that is just a bigger trojan with more good times. She avoided me having to tear the bitch down this time. That is impressive considering her past actions.
