Any other herp lovers on the boards? Caring for herps has been a hobby of mine ever since I was a little kid. Going on to 15 years experience now.

Here's my buddy snoopy. I'm redesigning and improving his cage right now I'll get pics up when I'm done.

They were messicans dressed as reptiles. This is how they steal your hubcaps. This is also why they are so good at landscaping; this disguise allows them to "be one" with the land.

Two of my friends (they are brothers) had one a while back. The tail on it was like 4 ft long, they cut it off, and it grew back. ZOMG

Why? It grew back, and they knew it would. I really don't think he was too upset about it.

In fact, isn't that a defense mechanism of theres?

Hellz to the yeah man. I have had a King Solomon Lizard for over 10 years. I had an Iguana that my wife and I built a sweet cage for, but after about a year we got rid of him because we just didn't have the time to dedicate to him.

Thats a last resort for iguanas, if a predator grabs its tail it will release. Most lizards do grow they're tales back fairly easy. However with iguanas that is not the case. Some grow back more than others but it grows back short and stubby. And is a long process.

ThomasG

The re-growth will never look like a normal iguana tail. It tends to be more club-like than tapered and the scales are not the same as the rest of the scales on your iguana’s body. The scales tend to be smoother than those on the body. The color of the tail also won’t be the same as it was before. It appears that the color of the tail takes on the shade of color where the break occurred. If the break occurred in a dark band of your iguana’s tail, it’s likely that the re-growth will be dark. If it occurred in a light area, chances are the re-growth will be lighter. It also won’t reach the length that an intact tail would. Sometimes, for whatever reason, a young iguana’s tail won’t grow back. On the other hand, an older iguana’s tail might just grow a significant amount. There is no way to predict whether or not there will be any re-growth.

Nice lookin iggy man was he tame?

He was until we started to not pay much attention to him, he got aggressive. We gave him to some friends and then there was a horrible snow storm that killed off power for 5 or 6 days. He ended up turning white, they got him out of there (they were there the whole time too) but he was never the same. About 6 months later he was just staring at the guys wife from across the room and charged her, jumped straight for her face she put her hand up he locked down and she ended up with stiches in the hand.

They got rid of him. Poor fella

My iguana definitely does. Not in a good way though I've been working on getting him used to other ppl lately. My iguana however, is far more intelligent than other lizards I have owned.

Not supposed to feed iguanas animal protein. Not going to kill them but its not essential.

Haha I had to tippy toe an get him out. If he just went a couple inches higher I would have had to get a stool to get him out.

True story I've had an iguana get lost up in a tree and animal control came out with a boom lift. It was a big ass tree. The park cleaners found him a couple days later in the grass.

:laugh::laugh: @ these stories

Bro had a red-tailed boa that was 8 1/2 foot long for a few years. I helped take care of her. Finally he started feeding her in the cage, never got her out, etc. Needless to say she got too aggressive and we gave her to a local vet who has a ton of exotic pets.

he also had a ball python for 3 years. Raised it since it was a baby. Left it in our weight room one night when the first frost of the year hit..Got too cold I reckon and he died.

Fuck Tommy Hillfinger I fed his ass for like a year daily, cleaned his shit, changed his water and spent hundreds on heating rocks and cool outfits for him to rock during the summer and all I get back is a bite or whip of the tail?

I tossed his ass out the window in the middle of winter, can they live in the cold?

Imagine if now 14 years later he grew to be as big as an alligator and has been planning to come after me and kill my family!!
