Anyone turkey hunt (other than deerhunt)

i know deerhunt does, im gona try it this year. season opens up saturday, i might wait till monday and get out there. im pretty excited to give it a try. any advise?

I didn't turkey hunt when I created my name.

This is just my 6th season turkey hunting and I have already hunted in 4 different states. Have been deer hunting for 11 seasons, but would choose turkey over deer any day.

no questions...just advice/discussion
im in greenup county kentucky. like 5min from ohio and like 30 from wv. i plan to do my hunting in ky though. i hope it does decent. anything i should know that most mags. dont cover?? discuss!!

Alright. As far as calling.

Turkeys have INCREDIBLE hearing. Just because he doesn't gobble at your calling does not mean he hasn't heard it. When you do get one to gobble at your call, don't overcall. If you overcall, they tend to hang up about 100 yards gobbling, waiting on the hen to come to them.

Get him to gobble at your call..And put your call down for 10 minutes. If it sounds like he is going the other way, get a bit more aggressive/louder. If he hasn't moved much, just stick with soft talk. Clucking/purring/scratching in the leaves. If the bird quits gobbling, STAY PUT. About half the time they come in they will quit gobbling.

Just learn to cluck/purr/and yelp and your in good shape.

what kinda gun you got? im just using a fully choked older (but mint condition) h&r model 88 12, with remmington 4 shot nitro turkey shells. its got a decent pattern. season starts tomorrow, i might try to go out sunday after work.
