Is3 value fell last year to below the truck value. I have a ranger already, but i keep getting stuck at home because it sucks in the snow so i figured take the truck and make the ranger a low rider. I've had many lowrider trucks so nothing new. Just seems wrong to trade the lex for a ford truck.

meh...
sell the ranger and buy a 4x4 truck

I dont wanna go through the trouble of selling. I fucking hate selling a car. Id rather trade in and lose all it's equity than have to sell a car to some asshole whining about everything to jewfuck me down only to walk away in closing and come back a week later wanting it. Fuck all that noise.
Biggest issue is ending up with two ford trucks, unneeded. On a side note i am supposed to be at my buddies turbo shop in knox (velocity) feb 15th for boost on the IS.

I can tell you from experience that the truck won't do much better, if any, than the ranger when it comes to getting stuck. We had one exactly like that but it was a '98 model IIRC. That damn thing would spin on wet grass. We got stuck in it several times.

You can tell a large amount of people here have never owned luxury vehicles, keeping them past a certain amount of years and miles is def a BIG NO NO, I wouldnt own a Lexus over 5 years old, give me that big tough Ford anyday over that old as dirt Lexus thats bound to be an eletrical nightmare as it ages...take the truck and put some BFG's on it.

Would not trade just based on how ugly those gen trucks are, you have like 4 cars don't you? Throw a CL ad up looking for something with 4WD for the ranger maybe?
I drive 100 miles round trip to work and there are maybe 2-3 days a year I'd prefer 4WD over FWD. Are all your rides RWD?

01-12-2011, 10:39 PM
Are all your rides RWD?
Tha is EXACTLY the problem. V-8 rwd lexus, I6 rdw lexus, 4bang 2wd ranger, other two are at auction so list stops there.
The black lexus i have i bought a decade ago and put 250k on. Just changed the oil, and an alternator so solid as a rock, but no traction. Therefore growing old luxo's is bullshit. Must have hung out at the BMW service counter too long, as germans have the worse electrical on the planet.

if you think german cars have the worst electronics you are clearly mistaken and obviously are not familiar with british vehicles.
The german makers get a bad rep for elecronics but the stuff coming in the cars is usually 5 years ahead of the rest of the auto industry.

Their technology has nothing to do with their shitty internal connectors.
Their technology has nothing to do with their shitty internal connectors.
Funny story, probably 80-90% of the wiring/connectors that BMW uses, come from the same manufacturer that produces wiring/connectors for literally every other auto manufacturer.

yup. I sell german car parts and it's all good electrical stuff, Hella, Bosch, VDO shit like that.
I have had people ask how to get certain connectors apart. some BMW electrical connectors require a little James Bond touch, but once you figure it out they all slide apart easily.

congrats man, the X5 are great vehicles. One thing to check out at some point is the timing chain guides on the 4.4. They are plastic and break with age, if you ever notice what sounds like chain slap or lifters ticking drop the lower oil pan and look for red plastic parts. Not trying to scare you, I just deal with these a lot at work and see problems that are common. If you ever need any help with parts for it PM me, I sell OEM parts and will save you a lot of $ over the dealership and I know that M62TU engine well.

GVWR is NOT your vehicles weight, you fucking retarded sheep fucker.
A gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR)[1] is the maximum allowable total weight of a road vehicle or trailer when loaded - i.e including the weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, passengers, cargo, and trailer tongue weight.
The difference between gross weight and curb weight is the total passenger and cargo weight capacity of the vehicle. For example, a pickup truck with a curb weight of 4,500 pounds (2,041 kg) might have a cargo capacity of 2,000 pounds (907 kg), meaning it can have a gross weight of 6,500 pounds (2,948 kg) when fully loaded.
The curb weight of that gigantic POS is 4900 lbs. With your fat ass in there its probably more like 5200.

I remember seeing a guy driving around in one of the big F-series trucks. Not sure if it was the F650 or F750. Looked kind of like this:
http://www.projo.com/photos/20081217/CA1217_F750ro1_12-17-08_RFCLH2T.jpg
Certainly the truck is huge, weighing in at 26,000 pounds (13 tons) with massive 22.5 inch wheels and air brakes. It’s powered by a 300-horsepower Caterpillar 7.2-liter diesel engine with 860 pound-feet of torque and is armed with an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission with double overdrive and air brakes.

My 1 ton Dodge weighs in at 8,000 with me and my wife in it and about 1/4 tank fuel. GVWR on it is 12,200 lbs.
But year, from a "car" perspective, breaking the 5-6K lb barrier is pretty rare. Most, if not all, HD passenger trucks easily break it.

Good news, when you go to install a stereo in there you won't have to run any power wire, so that will reduce the chances that you will set the car on fire.
Battery is mounted in the rear, 1/0 wire running under the car to the alternator.

I pull some strings and find him an e34 540i auto, 94 oxford green on tan in NICE looking shape, maintenance records and maintained with OEM parts. The guy will give the car up for a grand even and my buddy passes on it thinking there will be something better for that money.

I'm not bashing the truck in anyway, but from my exp simple things on parents' vehicles are ridiculous, unless you like paying $130.00 or more for oil and filter changes alone... with it's age i wouldn't have put out more than $12,500. just my .02

This is the difference between someone who has their own money and someone who uses someone else's. The truck has passed it's depreciation ramp and is leveling out to be worth it's money. A fool spends $60k only to be left with a $22k vehicle 4 years later. Let the fool buy it, I'll buy it off the fool.

The quoted statement disqualifies you from weighing in on the matter to me. If you have never owned a BMW you have no clue what it takes to keep it going. My own car has been oil changes, a belt here or a tire there, cheapest vehicle to maintain I have ever owned, including blue ovals! Also, anyone taking a 10 year old BMW to the dealer for oil changes deserves to get raped.
Mann OEM oil filter kit for that truck is less than 10 dollars. Toss in 8-9 quarts of your favorite synthetic and an hour's time on a sunday afternoon and you can change the oil yourself for around 50-60 bucks tops.

I got over that "too good for yourself when you get some money" bullshit a long time ago. It's an elitist attitude that will smack you into reality one day if you choose to live in it. That's why celebrities whine like fucking baby dolls if their iced tea is 1 degree too warm. You being to lose touch and become a whiney FAGGOT. So if that's what you wanna be, go for it. :grin3:

$19.5k which is higher than the resale on your rice bucket and I don't have to drive a severely depreciating tin can around. ;)

Current value = ~$20,000
Barely depreciated at all hasn't it?

Correct. Do you fags know anything about the market or are you all just waiting for the info on a silver platter? Depreciation in the market is 22% per year for 5 years. That is less than 14%.
