View Full Version : 2 sets of comps
i was thinking of putting a set of amped comps in the fronts doors ( hopefully off at least 90 watts per side) and a set of comps in the back doors that would be run of the HU. is this a bad idea?

ehhh....it could be okay but why not spend more money on a better set of comps for the front? Seems like you would have loud and clear fronts with quiet and muddy rears

well, i have a set of DD comps and i want them to be powered by a profile california amp ( the AP 2000). the back, i was thinkin about some mids from mach5, maybe the crossover from my crystals and a tweeter from parts express.

Man, I just see this being a tuning nightmare. Just me though, I'm impatient with this sorta thing. It could work really really well. But I don't see much value overall.

Bro, this.
I've only got one set of comps up front. Bridged my belle, giving them around 230 per side.

This is what I did, I have a set of Alpine type x comps up front off a Kicker SX600.2 (150wrmsx2) and have my factory speakers faded right out in the rear. Whenever I tried to blend them in it never sounded right.

I mean, what kind of black person are you? To only run two sets of Comps? You supposed to have coaxials and tweeters, and lots of them.

Is it a bad idea ? ehhhh...... would it be worth the effort and expense? nope, with that much power on the front and that little on the rear, it really wouldn't work even for rear fill in a 5.1 setup.

Ramos gets me hard.
dear everybody,
thanks for telling me not to put Hu-powered comps in the back doors. I put $54 coaxs back there instead and can barely hear them over my amped speakers in the front. TY

Nice, but you still didn't listen to the entire story and ended up putting something back there anyway lol The normal reason\excuse for rear speakers is so the back seat passengers can hear. Unless your driving deaf people around in some super stretched limo, passengers can here the front stage just fine.

well, I do have backseaters ocasionally. plus, I think havin 4 speakers amped gives a fuller sound, but that is just strictly my personal pref.

You got a privacy wall in your ride that is sound proof? Sound carries very well inside a tiny ass car.
The fuller sound thing has me wondering though. What do you mean by "4 speakers amped gives a fuller sound" ??

And don't give me the tube amp "warmth" argument either.......

You would be well served by having Dave's and Ramos's front-only setups tear your ears off. Won't think that way any more ;)

comparing it to having a 2.1 setup vs a 4.1 set up. when i had all 4 speakers amped, i didn't that it ever took away from the front stage, but think thats just my ears. i just think that, even in my tiny ass car, i think 4 sounds better than 2.

I really enjoy giving my power to the front 2 speakers, but I will admit, my rear seat passengers ofter complain about not being able to hear the music over the bass.

mmkay sounds like you need more power on the front components. If you sit in my backseat your leaning back against the subs. Yet you still hear everything clear as a bell with nothing overpowering. Need to get you in a car with a decent properly setup front stage, then see if what you think of front stage only.
