View Full Version : Cut Diets...healthy individuals get ITT: Junior, Ahab, Tappy, that bald guy from The Transporter etc.

I'm starting a cut. I've got my workout plan down, and I'm taking Niacin in the mornings, and protein immediately after every workout. When I have to resort to fast food, it's subway only, and I limit it to 6 inch with no chips or drink. I think for someone my size (6'2", 275 lbs.), I should be taking in ~1700-1800 calories a day.

What do you guys do for diets when your on a cut schedule? I'm really trying to get nice and cut before I go to the beach so I am appealing to sexy and tan shallow bitches in the Dominican Republic when we go after finals. In fitness class this morning, we measured body fat % and BMI, and I scored 32.8% and 36, respectively. I'm working on it. Any helpful tips would be much appreciated.

I shouldn't help since I fall into the "etc" category. However, 1700 isn't close to enough calories for a clean cut.

I'm 5'10" 225 and when I did my cut last spring, I was taking in around 3700 calories per day. Lost something like 30 lbs

The key to losing weight falls into your carb to protein ratio. Ahab does it a bit differently, and it does work, but I want to say at his best cut, he followed more to the ratios

At your size, and without asking all the right questions that really should be asked to give you a proper response, I'd say you should take in 4k a day and burn 7k a day.

Na, I'll live. Just crank it in the morning thinking about how much I don't matter and how I'm ugly and need to change and improve! I need to be thought of on the list...work harder you fucking pussy....you're nothing, they don't think of you!

Yeah, thats going to make for a good workout!!

I do not think that is enough calories. I think your muscles eat itself due to lack of calories.

I aim for 3000 just to maintain, but I end up eating trash (cookies, cakes, beer) just to get there. Finding 3000 good calories is very very hard.

I lost 220lbs without counting calories. I would eat as much as I wanted of stuff like chicken breast, old fashioned oatmeal, eggwhites, sweet potatoes and such. I did hour of lifting weights a day and minimum of 60 minutes of either walking on incline or running at about 6.5 mph for an hour on the treadmill. I could tell my metabolism benefited from eating so much because my pits would start to sweat after eating.

Hats off to you! But you need to understand, at that weight(440lbs.), anything is going to be benificial for you. Highly obese clients are a completely different clientele base than someone looking to drop 20, 30, 40lbs.

Lulz.... I won't be "sending" you a lot of info, but I'll "tell" you a lot of info. I train people on this forum for free as a way to contribute, yes, but I have others clients that I charge big dollars for that need my assistance as well. I don't have a whole lot of time to sit in front of a computer to type for hours on end. But I am more than willing to help you out as much as you need.

I love you. My doctor told me that I should be at 190 or so, so that's what I'm shooting at. However, I really just want to drop enough weight to look nice and cut.

Don't go by what your doctor is saying then, because that would put you at 185lbs. of muscle and 5lbs. of body fat if all the numbers you stated are true. Not very reasonable. By Doctor's standards, at my height I'm suppose to be 130lbs., making me 75lbs. overweight, yet I'm under 15% BF at all times.

I've been a personal trainer and competative body builder for 15 years, managed gym's for 7, owned a supplement shop and a few fitness clothing lines, and currently sell commercial gym equipment.

Yes I do have a "body building" style to my training, but I don't train my clients like body builders. I have a more "caveman" style of training. I know that sounds stupid, but it basically means just eat fresh and natural foods, and stay away from preseratives and processed foods. I still let people eat pork, beef, fruits, dairy, etc. that I wouldn't let someone getting ready for a show. My training system is all about building up ones metabolism naturally so you burn calories 24/7. By doing that, you can enjoy life and all the treats that it has to offer(in moderation, of course.)

Here is what works for me.....I went from 204 to a lean 176 two springs/summers ago doing the following...

Around 2300-2600 calories a day. I'd eat more on days I did cardio. At least 200g protein a day. For cardio I'd do a lot of HIIT and 45 minute walks @ 4mph. For the HIIT I would walk 2 minutes, sprint a minute or 1.5 minutes, walk another minute, and repeat so forth until about 18-20 minutes had lapsed. I liked it b/c you could burn about the same amount of calories in half the time.

Like pl8 said, I did my diet a bit different. It just worked well for me and was easy to keep up with. A lot of times my grams of protein would be around 10% of my total calories for the day. And I would have a minimum of 5 meals a day with a few protein shakes mixed in. I just avoided fatty foods.

As for my cutting foods:

Breakfast: whole eggs, egg whites, toast, oats, grits---- A LOT OF OMELETS! :woot:

Lunch: lots of 1/4lb turkey sandwiches (easiest to buy prepackaged meat where 4 slices= 1/4 lb..Wal-Mart brand is like that). Wheat bread and 2% cheese.. I ate a cup of low calorie yogurt a lot along with a sandwich.

Dinner and other items: chicken breast, tuna, venison, tilapia, catfish, lots of sweet potatoes and a ton of brown rice, mixed veggies, protein shakes, protein bars, skim milk, instant mashed potatoes, sticks of string cheese...

lots of cottage cheese and casein protein before bed time!!

AS you can see, one common denominator in everything is low fat. That is what worked for me though and everyone is different.

I tried the low carb and no carb shit a few times and FUCK THAT! I would feel like shit throughout the day, be uber tired, etc, etc.

Basically: bust your ass on the weights, do cardio, keep your diet low in fat.

Gotcha. I put my chosen muscle group to work, usually upper body on MWF and lower body on TR. I push the muscles that I'm working to failure every time I work out. It seems to be working well for me because my pants seem to be a little smaller. Also, my arm is getting pretty beefy. And my diet is low fat for the most part. I have switched from bread to tortilla wraps instead of sandwiches, and I completely cut fast food out as well as dark and clear sodas. I'm taking protein supplements immediately after working out, and trying to focus most of my diet on protein. Lots of meat. I really don't have means to check my progress right now, but I need to really get on a scale.

I'd back off of that some. Sounds like you may be overworking your muscles. They need rest too.

Maybe upper body on Monday, Lower on Tuesday....Then Upper on Thursday, Lower on Friday..

I personally do the best with something like this.

Monday- Chest
Tuesday-Back
Wednesday-Legs
Thursday- Shoulders/Traps/Abs
Friday-arms
