View Full Version : Official Site Launch

It will be impossible to get into much detail about the site we will be launching in a few months.

The promotional material we will be giving bands that are accepted "officially" will get well over $200 in promo material, access to girls decked out in "Official" gear that will help promote bands at their shows, be played exclusively on our sites radio station (similar to Pandora, but for underground artists only), etc.

It will be a couple of months before we launch "Stage 1" of the site but getting a good idea of what artists to be watching for would be very beneficial.

While touring the country, each artist that gets plugged in will get free photo shoots, promotional videos, some will get free music videos produced by our site, etc.

Eventually we will utilize the community built from the artists to expand into nearly every other facet of the internet.

The site has been in development mode for more than 2 years and is only about 10% complete at this point ($225,000 in, give or take a few thousand dollars).

These are people I am interested in finding:

YouTube - Joshua Dennis " can't get right "

Haven's Fall will be on my list, whether or not it actually happens is up to "him".

I'm not nearly as interested in hip-hop/rap artists as I am talented bands/individuals in nearly all other facets of the music industry. Most hip-hop/rap artists don't provide our crew enough crowd control and/or access to them to get usable footage; which defeats the purpose of what we're trying to do in the first place.

Link anyone you know; whether it's Soundclick, ReverbNation, MySpace, etc.

My funding is almost unlimited if this is done right.

We are just looking for talented artists that don't have the means to promote themselves. Genre doesn't mater (even hip-hop; though I refuse to go to a basic gangster show where everyone is stoned off their asses shooting guns (this has happened at 2 of DG's shows)).

The basic functionality of the site is there, but until the user control panel is in place 90% of the functionality of the site doesn't work.

There are lots of cosmetic issues that will be dealt with once we get over this last hurdle.

We just had our radio finished (for what we can do with it for now as far as functionality supported by our back end as it currently stands). Tiny baby steps, tiny.

I can't tell if you're trolling or not, so I'll pass on furthering the discussion.

We will be buying a tour bus in about 2 months and hitting the road. If they are talented we will hit their city just for them.

The official launch for "Stage 1" is set for Spring Break in FL. No details are available yet.

I have no care about musicians, but this seems like a decent biz op...I can provide some legwork if needed.

It can't hurt to provide a link.

All bands will be accepted, but only bands that are "worth a shit" will be "Official Bands" and get radio play, promo material, etc.

All songs, girls, bands, etc. will utilize a ranking system similar to Billboard Top 100.

The top band of the month right now is slated to receive ~$1,000 in cash/prizes. All broken down to genre, location, etc.

Reverbnation is great for bands, if they don't mind getting nickeled and dimed to death. Nothing on our site will cost a dime. Official Bands will have access to free CD mastering, design work, etc.

They only have 1 song on their website but I could probably find more on youtube, I know they have gotten some of their songs on some christian radio stations and did a little tour in australia with some guy. So I guess they arent super underground or anything and I wasnt sure if you would be interested in a christian rock band

Are you just looking to do the web development for the band? Interested in canadian acts at all, or are you looking for someone closer to start with?

I missed that link somehow. I'll check them out in a bit.

Think more along the lines of FB meets Reverbnation meets CollegeHumor.

Canadian acts are a possibility in the future but won't be a target demographic for a while.

We are providing artists with resources they may not have access to. Promo material, logos, web design, etc. Our site will revolve around people helping people through our services (similar to oDesk) but there will be no out of pocket costs for the artists. Too hard to explain how that works and isn't something I'm at liberty to talk about.

Those types of services will be needed once the site is moving. For now we will utilize our resources in-house until we are overwhelmed.

Bands are phase one and the least expensive way to market the site.

Word of mouth goes a lot farther than advertising; especially when you are practically offering bands everything they need for free.

Stage 2 launches once Stage 1 has traffic moving efficiently and all the bugs are worked out.

Try getting in contact with some bands from www.bandcamp.com

Great site for artists to host/sell music direct. You could help promote these smaller bands.

Great idea
Here's a guy I'm friends with from a town near me. Recording quality of his songs on here is pretty bad, but I've heard him do some covers in person better than the originals.
