Since I traded my Ranger in on something more fuel efficient I found myself needing a truck from time to time. I was thinking since I won't be driving it daily I can get something big enough to do anything.

Thoughts?
I don't know how much old trucks go for.

1. It prolly has 300K+ miles.
2. Its diesel and upkeep is tremendously more as compared to gas.
3. Its diesel it will last forever
4. Do you really need that much truck?

Probably.
How so? This thing will be used once or twice a month
Awesome
Maybe, Maybe not. Since I won't use it very often, not as concerned with fuel economy.

Oil changes will be $60+ every time. When something breaks or goes out parts are much more expensive for parts alone.
Gas mileage will prolly be 15+/- mpg on the 92 and a few more on the 2000. The second one will be more than you want to spend though.
All that being said, I have had 4 diesels over the years. If I had a need for a truck and planned on keeping it for a decent amount of time I would most definitely buy diesel again. I just don't have the need right now.

I see. I misread on the 2nd one and thought they wanted $2,000 for it. I read it wrong.
I am considering the 92 if they'd take $1,000 or so maybe. I really need to assess what my actual needs are.

Use a door to load a cubic yard of mulch on a tarp.
I have never seen anyone do this.

The Ford 7.3L is a very strong powerplant with the right setup. 22k lbs can easily be towed.

Little truck with a hydraulic lift bed would be perfect for dumping mulch, etc..... Might want to look around at local auctions.....

get a cargo van. pay a mexican to handle the mulch. problem solved.
or if you insist on DIY, rent a blower for blowing insulation into attics. use it to blow a yard of mulch into and out of van like a boss. return blower with goofy grin.

I certainly wouldn't haul Jesus around in less of a truck. Have you seen his physique lately?

But the oil lasts much longer so it evens out.

If he doesn't then his neighbors will report him for breaking midwest code. That is when they send the KKK to enforce.
