Anyone setting up a home studio?

Just before Christmas, I helped my buddy finish off his basement which he was going to set up as a studio. I was just up there this weekend and he was setting all his gear up. I knew he had a good setup since he is in the hifi business, but I didn't know he had so damn much! Took some pics since I know some of you here are into home studios.

He's a manager for one of the most premier audio stores in Western Canada. Sells B&W, Classe, Rotel, Wilson Audio, Halcro, VTL, DynAudio, Nagra, Runco, and a shit load more great names. He's the reason I have as good of a setup as I do. Nice to know people with connections. Haha.

He's been a DJ for many years, and has produced music for longer than I can remember. He was actually the man that got Kascade into producing music.

How is your setup coming along, Junior?

Slowly getting there.:p It's not quite the same as the above set up, but I'm working on it. Vince ordered me the same DAC that he is using in his set up. The thing is fucking sick! Does 32 bit, has balanced input and all that good stuff. This will be my first attempt at a hard drive set up, so we'll see how things go. I have no experience when it comes to that. Vince is teaching all about it, and there is no one better to learn from about anything audio than him, so I think it'll be alright. I'll do a review on the set up once it gets here. The DAC is basically the equivalent of a $6000+ unit made by Weiss, for a helluva lot less.

Besides that, everything is about the same since the last time I talked to you. My CP500 preamp is just getting a firmware update right now, so my true two channel setup is out of commission. :crap: Picked up some new tubes for my Cary, but haven't had a chance to test them out. It sucks though, cause they usually take a while before they burn in and start to sound good. Maybe I should play with them today?????

That is one thing I want to work on is getting this noisy ass computer out of my living space. I dabble in PC based recording and the machine I use doubles as my HTPC. It has 4 hard disks and some fans, it's loud. I want to put it in the basement where it can not be heard.
