you know how ppl would like a multiple tuned sub like svs makes? i was thinking if you put 2 different sized round ports it could work, idk? one short one for music and a longer one for movies. plug up the longer port and your tune gets higher. thinkin out loud.......

Or, you could just drill a bunch of holes all over the box and put tape over then when you want to change the tuning.

Hsu research been doing it for years check em out. Makes the box huge though. They had a box called a turbocharger that connected to their subs to extend port lengths as well.

I've got a pair of these:
http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/2341

which shipped with foam rounds you could plug the speaker port with if you wanted. I forget what the manual said but I tossed the foam things.

Because generally, they're either building for low distortion and low group delay, or are content with fart cannons.

You don't run into people very often who want both at different times out of the same enclosure.

The good thing is, 21" drivers have become a lot more affordable and capable in the home market since that article was written :D

mmmmmmmm......
how about build the smallest recommended enclosure for ported and then put a plug in the port for music??

for ex: you 15: ht sub needs 5-8 cuft ported. well why not make it 5cubes, use a rounded port for movies and then plug it for music? ahhahaahha

Meh, I'd just run sealed and not care, but I'm not a basshead...most sealed alignments that are at or slightly under .707 Qtc have enough output for me...

omg jim, $750 for a 21" sub!??! i mean i would love to have one, but 1. the price 2. will it be audibly louder than an 18" and 3. u have to get a sonosub for it. a wood enclosure...... might as well be a refridgerator.
