I recently finished up with Invisalign. I had to stop 3/4 of the way through because I had to go to boot camp, but they still are definitely much better than they used to be. I paid right around $4,900 for everything and I wore the trays for 16 months.

I told you I'd provide pics, soooooooo

Only take them out to eat. Wearing them is a huge pain in the ass. You get used to having to floss/brush after you eat absolutely anything, but it is a pain. Teeth are really sensitive for the first couple days after you change out the trays each time. Fuck it sucked.

Sounds a lot like braces, except not nearly as ugly or inconvenient.

I had braces for 2 years. Shit sucked but it was worth it in the end. My teeth were jacked up before them. The only crappy thing is I have some wisdom teeth coming in and they are starting to push against my teeth and messing up some of the straightness. :crap:

Not so bad that anyone can tell, just annoys me.

I've been putting off getting mine pulled for 5+ years. I need to bite the bullet and get it done since I have dental insurance now.

I've had all four of mine removed. Went fine. Don't drink through a straw after until you're healed.

Luckily I had my wisdom teeth removed when I was 16. 75% of my division in boot camp had to get their wisdom teeth removed during boot camp and they had to sit in bed for 3 days straight and were bleeding all over their beds.

glockypoo, the advice on the straw suckin' is to keep you from pulling out the clots, not to prevent pain.

It's usually pretty quick unless there is complications with your teeth. They had to break two of my teeth to get them out. And you will worry about post pain if you get a dry socket from sucking something up a straw.

No reason to be scared. Depending on the doctor you can either get completely knocked out via anesthesia, or just localized drugs to numb the pain. Either way you won't feel a thing. I just had local drugs at my dentist. I will admit if you're squeamish you may want to opt for the knocking out. I was able to hear them cracking my teeth as they broke them to get them out. It sounds very painful but I didn't feel a thing.

Did you have them whitened as well or is the new brightness just a product of having to brush and floss after every meal?

I've had two oral surgeries and both went pretty easy. I still have all my wisdom teeth, but use the bottom two. They were impacted sideways and if they pulled them out they said I would lose feeling in my face when the teeth severed the nerve. My only option was to remove the back teeth and let the wisdom teeth push themselves out over the next few yrs and that's what I chose. Took them two years to work themselves out of their place and into the sockets where the original back teeth were. Now if I wanna pull them, cake.

Only thing bad about wisdom teeth is if they break and the dentist has to scrape them out. And after they are out, dry socket...... Had 3 or 4 removed, don't remember now. Was done when I was in the military. Went well, drank slim fasts for about 4 days.....
