View Full Version : ITT: Help me gain weight

So I'm debating about trying to gain some weight (eventually gaining muscle) so I'm looking for some guidance.

I know a big part of it is diet, but I don't really have THAT much motivation at this time.

I'm 6'0" and 145 pounds. Haven't gained a pound in 10+ years. Metabolism is stupid fast and I'm sure that's not going to help things.

What are some basic strategies I can start off with? I'm not opposed to working out when I have the time, but I cannot be 100% dedicated at this time.

Am I a lost cause or is there some basic stuff I can start with? I already eat a shitton as it is, lots of pasta, meat, etc., but I just never see myself ever gaining weight.

I need some help bros.

Eat shit tons of carbs, like pastas.

Also try that cyto-sport weight gainer. Shit builds you up so long as you are working out.

I already eat an asston of carbs. Pasta easily 3-4 times a week.

I'm thinking that I'm going to have to go one step further and start doing protein shakes/bars on top of meals. Just looking for recommendations at this point.

Well you have my recommendation. I ended up in a hospital at one point in my life, stuck there for three weeks. I lost so much weight, to the point where I was skinny as fuck, weighing like 140. I drank that cytosport shit everyday, large amounts, and I built up the extra 50 pounds back easily over a course of 4 months. I now weigh 194 last time i scaled, with little fat on my body, course a few beers probably contributed the extra 10.

Stopped reading at this point. If you don't have the dedication to eat the right food, just stay thin. You will be thankful in another decade when your metabolism slows way down.

Health gains are difficult to do and IMO are more difficult than cutting.

What exactly would be the "right" food? I have some motivation as I'm sick of being a bean pole, but I don't know how far I need to take this.

People have been telling me every year for the past 10 years that "just wait, it'll slow down eventually."

Yeah....I don't think so.

I used to eat peanut butter straight from the jar when I was in college. I'll have to start doing that again.

If you want some help, I have no problem helping you. But like I ask everyone on here, I need a three day journal of what you're eating(serving size of EVERYTHING!), and time it's sonsumed before I can do anything for you. Once you give me that, I can set out a nutrition plan for ya, and see what needs to be adjusted to get you some bulk. PM me if you're interested.

I'll see what I can do. I don't exactly eat on a set schedule (it's difficult to do with my fluctuating work hours).

I just need to get an idea of how much you eat in a day on average and how much at a time. That's all that it is for. Just so I have a starting point to adjust things. Starting tomorrow, just write down what you eat and when. Do that till Monday and you're golden. Nothing to it.

I need to get in on this with my bro Tommy. I've fluctuated between 140 and 145 @5'11" since 8th grade(24 now). I've kept a relatively solid body up until the last year or so when the gut started showing a bit but weight hasn't changed. Junior, I'll be hitting you up about this too. Should I wait until tomorrow to start or can I start from what I ate today?

If you can remember what you ate when and how much, by all means start from today. Just need to see how much you eat in a day for a three day period. Nothing special. :grin3:

If today is a normal day in your life, then yes.

If today is a normal day in your life, then yes.

As I posted before, I don't have much of a "normal" schedule. Some days I work mornings and occasionally miss lunch, which pushes back my meals or sometimes missing them completely.

Other days I'll be working evenings, will only have a breakfast/lunch combo and then something for dinner.

Then if I'm off work I could or could not eat 3 meals a day.

"Normal" isn't in my food vocabulary. :wat:

I'll just do a couple more days to give you an idea.

Haha. I understand. This will be the main thing you will need to work on in order to gain weight. You must fuel your body on a regular basis in order to make it grow. Can't build a house, if you don't have the lumber and nails.

I'm about as fat as you are. We are fatties, always gettin laughed at by society. Well one day we will strike back with some type of fast food restaurant on a global scale. We will offer supersize me's, and various burgers to fatten up the international areas.
