The forum sometimes has logins to pay sites. I think the admins felt that a lot of people were coming here and signing up just to get free logins and leave.

This requires new users to post some before getting the happy ending I suppose. I have seen it done on a lot of forums and makes sense to me at least.

I suppose it could. In this day and age page views really don't mean much anymore in the world of advertising as far as profit.

Offtopic forums have no real niche so they are probably the worst kind of sites to advertise on as there are no real specific products that all users can use in one way or another where if you were on a Jeep forum and a Jeep hardtop manufacturer wanted to advertise it would be his target audience.
