If I transfer something to my external hard drive and then delete it from the hard drive on my computer do I get all of the space back? Also is there anyway to make utorrent save straight to my external hard drive?

Yes once you delete it you are all set, quicker way is to cut and paste to your external drive that way once it's moved the space is automatically available on your primary drive.

There is a setting in utorrent to download to a specific folder, not at home but I know it is possibly because mine saves to my H: drive 'Downloads' so it should be in the options somewhere.

If you don't figure it out by the time I get home I will post again.

Ok I wasnt sure it didnt seem like I got all the space back after I deleted things. I guess I will look through utorrent again.

It should prompt you when you open a torrent file... and you can browse and choose which folder you want.

I have a dozen different folders for various things... you can choose a different one each time...

after you delete w/e files you move onto your external you should defrag your hard drive to help it run a little more optimized. you don't necessarily have to but it's an "ok" thing to do if your are clearing a lot of space on your main drive.
defrag can take a while depending on drive size and speed so it's best to just do it overnight.

Mine pops up a screen and asks me where I want to save every time I download something.

They have programs that completely deletes it, then deletes the log files of it doing it, and deletes the log files of the log files that shows it was doing it.
=|

Or you can just fill it up again so it has no more space to hold those files.

Yeah although the space is back, its still technically there. You need to run low level formats or do a DOD 0/1 loop on the drive to really kill it off.

Your external is assigned a drive letter, if not...just give it one (control panel>admintools>computer management>storage>disk management) careful if you go here, its a nasty place to make mistakes ;)
