I've driven both the VQ30 and 35 and yeah I felt a difference. Both engines are awesome, can't really go wrong either way. It's also a larger engine and has more torque obviously. Also depends how you'll be driving the car. If you're planning on doing performance mods vs. just a comfortable daily driver.

If price isn't an issue, the larger engine is a little more enjoyable. However, I drive a 2001 Toyota Avalon with just over 200 hp/tq and it's plenty for daily driving. It's heavier and less sporty than the maxima, and it's more than enough for passing power on the highway. I was actually looking at Maximas, I couldn't find one in the mileage/price range I wanted, so I got the Avalon. But yeah, if it were me I'd opt for the VQ30DE if price were a concern.

torque is what makes you able to spin the tires and have quick 0-60 times basically low speed power...hp is what makes you go fast basically high speed power

Honestly a lot of it is going to be in your head too. 200hp is plenty. Drove a 340hp car for 8 hours today. Felt just like a 100hp car cruising on the fucking highway behind faggots all day.

Wow, I'm suprised none of y'all thought about the differences in gearing on the cars... If you have to ask, you won't tell the difference. Besides, there are lots of variables: weight, transmission, final drive ratio, torque/hp curve, etc...

So far I've had:
86 300zx turbo - VG30ET ( freaking amazing car, never lost a race)
88 SE-V6 hardbody - VG30i ( Beat on for 14 years and never had any trouble that I didn't cause)
89 Maxima - VG30E ( loved this car, but it was getting long in the tooth)

and my dad has an early 2000 frontier with a VG33E (can't stand the fucking thing, piss poor mileage, no space in the 4.5 ft bed, and seems gutless compared to even my 2.0 i4 powered 94 Mazda 626)

I always find this logic amusing. That's like saying, i'm a great runner.. i've never lost a race. Cars are simple. There are plenty faster cars on the road, you were just timid enough not to ever fuck with them.
