So I went to the carnival at my church today, and as I was pulling in I noticed a really nice looking car 2 cars in front of me. Turns out it's a GTR Skyline and I ended up parking right next to it. So there's my shitty little SL2 next to the GTR, it made my day.

Someone has way too much cash. Let me tell you why.

They have one of those at the dealership where I just picked up the Lancer's. They are getting 10,000 OVER MSRP for them.

Also, go over 100mph, you can void your warranty (speed tracked by onboard computers). Switch to the launch mode and you can void your warranty as well.

Very nice car (minus the stupid ass analog buttons under the navi/car pc/engine diagnostic system).

I believe my actions speak for themselves, but here goes. If a tree falls down in a forest, jostles my car enough to make the door fly open and hit your car... did it ever really happen? Well, it's not my car, so fuck no it didn't. I'm going on my merry way.

Also I am not sure how true the going over 100 thing is, I know in an accident it can be used against you but would be surprised if they were actually able to pull your warranty because of it.

Me thinks a lot of rich faggots with money would be suing the shit out of Nissan for that one.

Its actually rather wishy-washy at best. It all depends on how you get to the 100mph range. If the blackbox says you were "racing" you are screwed and anything damaged during the racing is not covered. Honestly, this all makes sense to me....I mean they don't sell a fast car that they expect to be raced non-stop without issues. They sell a car that is capable of going fast. If that makes sense. So you can go fast with it sure, but if you do this to the point that something breaks, that is your problem.

Oh, tranny going out after the VDC (launch) problem is 20,000 dollars ROFL

That kind of logic doesnt seem valid IMHO. That gives them the right to say that literally anything that failed on the car was due to the car being driven in a fashion that they did not intend it to be driven as.

I cant see any manufacturer saying that and sticking to it...

I like Mazda's approach on it, "you want to race, come to us, we will help you". Mazda factory race assistance FTW!

blackbox on the car can tell when damage occurred to the part and what the engine was doing at the time. So if the car was running 108mph and way up in RPM, pretty safe to say it was running hard.

Now don't let that get you thinking I don't agree with you. If I spend 80k for a car, I better be able to smash the peddle to the ground and go. If it breaks, put a new part on there so I can smash the peddle again.

hoss

Yeah, but what they have succesfully done is open up a loophole where they can say "We see that the engine was run to redline, this most likely caused the oil pump to fail, which lead to an entire engine failure. Not warrantied"

I think the US govt has intervened in certain cases such as this and said that it is unethical and unenforcable.

If they make a car capable of performing in a manner, and do not restrict it from performing in that manner, it has to be warranted even when used in that manner (I believe). Same way that they have to honor the warranty even if you modify anything, they just have to prove that your modification caused the failure.

Now that being said, I do remember hearing that the J-spec version of the cars were speed limited via GPS and could unlock the limitations only if the car was located within certain geographical confines that were labeled as legal race tracks. Dont know if that limitation came to the US though.

Facts are more valuable in real life than anything you might find on the internet, sure they might not always make you look like the smart guy, but they are the actual illustrated facts. There isnt a good reason why you shouldnt get off your butt and out from behind the computer and go learn something right now...

1) You see anywhere that ford has called their new GT the GT40? Yet it is the next generation of the classic. Much like the new "GT-R" is a continuation of the classic Skyline GT-R...

2) You gotta go in and ask for it at a dealer. And even then, some dealers havent been priveliged with the smaller engine. The smaller engine tweaks out a little less power, but uses more boost than the 3.7 to make for about the same fuel consumption, but better weight distribution and a slightly lighter overall curb weight.

Saw this on wikipedia:

SpecV
Nissan introduced the GT-R SpecV on January 7, 2009 at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon.[57] Exterior changes from the base GT-R consist of a carbon fiber rear spoiler, grille, and brake ducts, along with an exclusive Ultimate Black Opal paint job. Interior changes include a set of carbon fiber Recaro front seats with the rear seats being completely removed. Carbon fiber covers the center storage box, instrument panel, and replaces the majority of the interior trim.
The GT-R SpecV is powered by the standard twin-turbo 3,799 cc (3.8 L; 231.8 cu in) V6 with no increase in (peak) horsepower, but a new high gear boost controller that temporarily increases boost pressure should deliver more torque in mid to high-range revs. Other mechanical changes include a titanium exhaust, reworked suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, and 20-inch (510 mm) NISMO wheels. Overall weight is decreased by 132 lb (60 kg) over the standard GT-R.[58]
Japan sales begin on February 2, 2009 at seven pre-selected dealers who are staffed by mechanics with special GT-R SpecV training and are knowledgeable of racing circuit driving. Pricing is set at ¥15,750,000 (over US$160,000). Nissan has not announced any plans to sell the SpecV outside of Japan.

I know that they dropped the "skyline" nameplate when they brought it over to the US, but it is the next generation of the previous legend...

I know there is only the 3.7 liter engine (fyi, the trade offs of the smaller engine would be through fuel consumption and weight. Less weight would yield better weight distribution and an overall lighter car. Lighter car yields better handling, as does the weight distribution. This is the whole concepe behind the rotary engine, lighter and less powerful can still outperform more powerful cars)

And that stat about the jap car manufacturers, I made it up... Although it is probably true.

Don't care for the look of them but would still like to drive one for a day.

Also I am not sure how true the going over 100 thing is, I know in an accident it can be used against you but would be surprised if they were actually able to pull your warranty because of it.

Me thinks a lot of rich faggots with money would be suing the shit out of Nissan for that one.

buy german. we dont do that pussy shit with the slr...

So I went to the carnival at my church today, and as I was pulling in I noticed a really nice looking car 2 cars in front of me. Turns out it's a GTR Skyline and I ended up parking right next to it. So there's my shitty little SL2 next to the GTR, it made my day.

I know my car is ugly, easily the ugliest gen of mustang. And all things the same, you're a homo for comparing a 2009 Nissan to an 89 Ford. I know the GT-R would smoke the shit out of my car in every aspect. 95% of the cars out there will. It's fuckin dumb to try to compare my car to anything else... so I don't.
