Want to upgrade the wife's truck with all new comps. Going to put comps in the front and then replace the kick's with new speakers too (6.5).

This is a dodge Nitro. Any suggestions of great speakers that are not that expensive?

Seems like some ID CTX65CS would be nice for the price, I've never heard them but I've read a lot of good things about ID. http://www.woofersetc.com/p6201/CTX65CS--Image-Dynamics-65"-Component-Speaker-System.htm

I like my Hertz coax's but i believe the comps are a bit more expensive.

Thanks! How much of an ass kicking are these going to give to the PG RSD's? I could get 3 sets of those for the price of one of these.

Well I've never personally heard either of those sets, but I would definitely spend the extra on the ID's. I've heard a lot of good things about them, but I'm sure the PG's would sound great for the price too. The ID's can take a bit more power, so that's a plus if your gonna be amp'ing them, which I would def do. It really depend on how much you're willing to spend and how much power you wanna throw at them.

I guess in the end, price isn't really an issue. But the truck gets used like 3 times a month maybe a day or two more tops. So spending a bunch makes little sense to me. But when she is in it, she HATES it.

Well if that's the case I def wouldn't spend too much. I wouldn't spend the money on those ID's unless I was getting a nice amp that can power them to their full potential, and it doesn't seem smart to spend that much for where these are going. I'm sure she would be plenty happy with those PG RSD, especially if they were powered by a small 2ch amp.

So if you decide to go with the PG's, I have a nice little amp that would make them sound really good, here's a link to it http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=390656 make me an offer if you're interested.

I have seen a lot of people give positive reviews on the PG's, but the only person I ever saw that I trusted was Tapout.

It does seem that a lot of people had problems with the tweets blowing. Could be user error, eve kid and his brother bought a set.

Honestly, if it was just for a every now and then truck I would give them a try just out of curiosity.

I actually had the PG's in my Stratus and I was running 120RMS to them through my Tru 4.65. I never had a single issue. I run gains totally as low as it will go as my RF symmetry always did the work of driving the signal. I know they are really good speakers, but I was just seeing if anything had come out since I got those that was a better bang for the buck.

Edit: Again, I appreciate the information. I'll start a thread over at CA and see if anyone has any suggestions as well.

Alright so I'm going to put PG's in the front door and either the AA poly's or my Ed's in the rear. I was looking and I can easily stealth install the amps under the luggage rack...now the next problem is a box. I have some space, not a ton, on the right side of the truck. I'm thinking of going with fisher customs, but anyone got another suggestion before I do? I know he is the best, but again I'm being a cheap ass.

Just go with Fisher. the last time I went cheap I got shitty workmanship.

One thing you should know, when I inquired with Fisher last time he directed me to his boy for a design. The guy wanted $25 for a simple disign and I thought that was bullshit.

Yeah, I had that happen last time too.....might be worth it as this is a tad complex. It will have to be in the right empty panel of the truck (where the OEM sub would have gone) I will do the amps and crossovers under the luggage rack.

I think I should have mentioned something to BJ about that back then. I don't think his prices are unreasonable considering that he has to pay for matierials/shipping. However, the price for the design may be driving others off as well.

The price of the design is fine. Fishers products are worth all cost incurred. I have sex with the 2 enclosure he built for me on a routine basis.

No, when it's broken down the price of the design itself is too high. I can't imagine anyone who was going to build a box paying $25 for just a very simple design.

I have a Fisher box is well, and they are certainly well made. That doesn't mean that he can't lose sales because of the way pricing is packaged.

Oh, and go eat a dick.

Like I said, my lazy ass thought the extra charge for a design was fine. I am not cheap and I didn't feel like learning sketchup so that Fish had a good detailed sketch with dims.

Building a box, I can. Building a custom enclosure that is exactly tuned, and fits into a very odd place above a wheel wheel, I cannot ;)

I am also going to grab a set of RSD's for my beater. To be honest I have never ran a set of components in my life due to the fact I have been too lazy to wire another amp most of the time and too cheap to pay for it to be installed, but these nissan door speakers suck really bad so I figured while I am doing the sub amp I will give it a shot.

Anyway I was betting on getting them on ebay, they seem to always be available for $70 shipped which is not too far off from what people are looking for them used on CA.

I would also like to eventually try rainbows sometime but don't want to spend the cash on this car, I spend enough trying to keep it running.

I know how to build a box, but I don't have the tools he has or half the experience in doing so. BTW, he is also a very stand up guy. I would suck his butt whether he built nice boxes or not, unlike you.

You need to take that shit to SMD or somewhere. I know how to do a lot of things that I don't myself.

BTW, are you under the impression that we all have access to BJ's tools and we just can't figure out how to use them? That's about the only way your comment would make sense.

I recentley put a set of PG RSD 6.5 in my car, deadened and sealed the doors up. To be honest I'm not all that impressed, midbass is average and a tad harsh, the tweets are to bright for me even on the 0db setting.
I only have them on about 70 watts and I've read that the like plenty of power. I will be getting a new 4 channel soon and will be putting around 120 to 150 on them and I hope this helps.
I spent $60 on them from Woofers ect and now I wish I would have saved up for a better set of comps. Live and learn I guess.
