What type of system is supporting this site? Are we going to see similar lagging if we get to the size, member base and number of threads? Any long range planning gone into this? What does it take to run a forum any how?

Site is on one of my servers with a small amount of sites, if the time comes I will get a dedicated box and ad possibly a small google box like CA has and/or ask for donations.

I am doing my best to keep it where it is for now and don't see it ever coming even close to CA's size. The biggest issue with CA is Goob has a server which was the shit 7 years ago or however long ago he got it but now is severely outdated and not managed correctly.

I can't imagine we'll see that happen here anytime soon. CA has so many members, so much spam, so many sections, etc.

Besides administration and moderators, keeping the site going and whatnot, they need to pay for the server by the month or by the year I believe. Although I think toasted said something about a shared server, so I don't know what the situation is for sure.

Edit: See above

Are you talking about a google appliance box like this:

I run a web hosting business so I lease about 20 of those total and manage an additional half dozen others.

The benefit of this to you guys is I can setup new customers on other boxes and leave this one kind of minimally loaded for quite some time and hopefully forever.

Ah...well I have one sitting in my basement unused ;) So if it gets really busy, let me know. Perhaps I can help out.

That's awesome. We just had an issue on fiberglassforums.com with the server, and transferring over to a new one. Everything went smooth, but I now know how much of a pain in the ass it can be taking care of that stuff at times. The admin there (Rza) also runs a hosting company - New Breed Hosting.. I don't know if you've heard of it.

1/0, Preferably Knu Fleks, around 15 - 20ft. I thought I had a trade set up last night for 25ft of brand new Fleks, but he said he preferred cash. I was upset.

Chances are I don't have the depth for them :crap: do you know what the mounting depth is?

Also, what Xover were you using, and frequency?

pl8er
03-04-2009, 08:42 PM
I can get the depth, I really don't know. I was using my symmetry to control frequency (active) and I believe it was 1.5/100, but I'd have to look at the pre-sets to be sure.

They were just rear fill for a short period of time (I couldn't even begin to guess how long now, maybe a few months??) then I unplugged them and went bridged to my front speakers and they just sat back there for a good deal of time unused.

That's what I figured. Don't worry about it, I don't have anything to run them off of currently. I'm running MB Quart comps passive until I get my sub stage finished.

No problem :) I keep throwing it out there because I really don't want to spend cash on doing the big-3. And I have all this stuff sitting around *laugh*

Just wondering, what are you selling your wire for? I need enough to do 2 vehicles.

I wasn't planning on selling, I just heard poly mids and jumped to attention lawl. Once I get the rest of my wire, I'll let you know what i've got left over. If you still need it by then, of course. It should be a week or two.
