Snagged these in the swift boils of spillway water. Would still be catching them but due to heavy rain this year they are having to get the reservoirs down quickly now and the water is too swift to snag like I was.

And most big flathead catfish like those above are caught by handgrabbling (when its in season) and jugs/troutlines. A few people are hardcore and catch them and rods n reels if they know what they are doing.

I usually throw my dick over the edge of the boat and wait until something bites, then I pull it up. My way of noodling.

I seem to find the largest flat heads and channels around here in some of the strangest places. Most of the big uns I have caught have been either rediculously shallow 6"-1', or in 100' water. With one connecting similarity. Their is usually a somewhat strong current running through the area. I'm a rod and reel man. Shrimp, and goldfish seem to be the bait of choice for mama cass. noodling......... My fat lazy arse ain't sticking my hand in dark places looking for shit to bite me.

Before a guy showed me the legal way to snag that I did this summer, I always caught my flatheads on live bream or goldfish. Caught a 26lber when I was 13 on a big ass goldfish.

And like Ramos said, current is very appealing to flatheads.
