View Full Version : Problems with port forwarding...
I'm trying to connect to AIM on my network here. The computer I'm on is in DHCP mode, I went into the firewall settings to enable DMZplus mode, so it should be allowing all apps to pass, yes? Already tried a reboot...
My modem's a 2wire 2701HG-S. What am I doing wrong?

What we used to do at school is open up AIM, go to Options>Sign On/Off>Connection, then press auto-configure. Try that before you hack your ports up.

Ran that and it worked first try ;) Brilliant :)
Never had to do that on any of my other machines, handy to know.

Yeah. Gets around most port firewalls (Like at work, or school.) It just finds an open port and uses it. At a certain point, the school somehow stopped the computer from being able to detect open ports... but at that point we'd all memorize that it was port 13. Just random tidbit.

+1 on that. Much better than going DMZ. DMZ = you are totally open to attack.

I'd never say anyone was. Unlimited potential, just the problem is drive. No drive.

Bringing this thread back, except I'm trying to configure uTorrent.
I've done everything listed here: http://www.portforward.com, still doesn't work.

Keep in mind as well that your ISP may block common torrent ports. Comcast and Time Warner are known for this. If you go under Preferences in uTorrent, you should be able to check the port, and randomly change it as well. I randomly change my port from time to time because Qwest sees fit to throttle traffic on some of the ports.
i alternate from a port in the 6500 range and randomizing it.
