I have a 1400 watt amp, been thinking for a long time of getting a new sub. I'm running at 700 watts right now on two 12" Infinity's sealed and I want to increase SQ, but don't want to lose output. Both of my new options would be going in one of Thumpper's (www.poundthatsound.com) ported boxes.

Option one: One 12" Xcon D2 (with 1400w running it)

option two: Two Mach5 IXL10 D4's ( with 700w) running to each sub.

I'm leaning a little more towards the two 10's simply because it would give me a bit of trunk space back.

My vote would be for the IXLs sealed, but that's just me :)

I really want to try a pair some time...

And I should mention I can get the two Ixl's for 330 shipped, the Xcon is about 485

Sucks to live in Canada and want good sound.

I would choose the ixls and I think mark makes a passive radiator for them also. that way you can get ported output and keep the box small and keep sq.

yeah, we get raped when things cross the border, my parents are thinking of heading to Texas for a couple months this winter. Maybe I'll just get the Xcon sent to them and have them smuggle it across.

When I bought my Kicker SX600.2 amp off a kid on ca.com, I paid $185 shipped, got hit with $60 in border fees. FML

hmmm I saw that PR on his site, thought it was just for the MJ18. His 10's take a pretty small box as it is though. IIRC ported was around .8 ft^3, My box now is around 2.5 I think.

I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on Jake's trade in when he was preselling the SAZ-2000D, Would have just been $30 for shipping.

Mach 5 all day long out of the two. Big plus is not having to deal with Mark ( Different mark ) and Aaron. :)

The win of the Mach 5 is I might be able to get some Funky Pup dust covers from Mark to put on them.

10's or 12 are good for people who are in their mid-30's and want to keep some trunk space...2.5-3 cubes is about all I want to give up in my car. I sometimes take the car out to work and leave it there (about 550 miles one way) . Need to keep some safety gear in the car with me, esp. in the winter.

First off, why are you going by birthsheet rating? (claiming to get 1400 rms from a 1250.1)

You'll never see that power in a real life application. :fyi:

a sealed 15 will fit nicely in a 2cuft enclosure :fyi:

10 hours to get to Minot, ND, closest reasonable sized city. I might as well pay the extra $100 bucks on the sub rather than pay for a hotel room, food, and gas.

I noes this. The amp has been tested to put out 1400w by the factory, will I see it? No.

if angel doesn't take slim's AA Havoc motor and basket I will have a 15. It would be sealed, because 40 cubes is way to big to have any space left in my car.

i have an AA Atlas(XBL^2) motor sitting around. i'm sure david could easily recone it for ya. it takes a 2.5" coil iirc.. i'll sell this DIRT cheap for what it cost me when i bought it to only have it for 2 days cause my friend blew it from turning the gain up on his crap audiobahn amp

nah, i sold the XXX like in 07 i think.. i bought a 15" FL BTL pushed by 2 saz1500ds, got sick of that after it fucked up my trunk.
sold the BTL, picked up a TC Sounds LMS5400 15, run it on a saz3000d. i'm happier with the lms5400 but i'm losing a lot of output with the sub forward firing. my car likes it in to the rear :P

easy now, all though I'm gonna try sqeezing 2 15's in the trunk of my 1st gen altima

fbi90909
11-18-2009, 01:58 PM
i could stick 2 15's ported in the trunk of my civic sedan :fyi:
though it'd be tripple 6" ported in a 7.5cu after displacement enclosure. forward firing though.
downfall? absolutly NO trunk space for batts amps or anything.. :/
