I've always wanted to learn to play piano other than just screwing around trying to figure out songs I already know. I've got some music background that I played saxophone for 9 years and was pretty decent at it.
Does anyone else play? Any tips, tricks, techniques, or suggestions to someone who wants to learn?

Don't use your dick. Sucks if the cover falls on it.

I would not mind playing myself but do not care enough to take lessons wish I had started earlier in life.

I played for a majority of my life... About 13 or so years. I took lessons, I wish I could still play it :(

Played as a youngin. Hated it. Would memorize songs because I didn't want to learn how to read sheet music.

Teacher thought I was awesome. I sure had her fooled. Moved on to Clarinet, Sax, Harp, Trumpet, and a bunch of other shit. It was forced upon me so naturally, I hated it.

Played piano and drums when I was younger, not much any more
Played a little piano too. Once you learn the piano, the guitar is a sinch.

I can't use my dick anyway. It hits more than one key at a time.

I've actually heard that before. Circle of Fifths, chord structure, etc etc.
I've been watching these youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/Lypur) videos. Guy is kind of annoying but has a lot of good pointers and teaches music theory pretty well.

Practice practice practice. That's the only thing that can really be said. The hardest part is to keep different the different things apart. So, any song you find that has a really difficult bass / treble line, practice that until you can do it while talking to other people. I only got to practice Piano for a little bit (friend had a piano, then he went to college. It'd be weird if I went over his parent's house to practice piano, even though they'd probably help me learn.)
While it's never to late to learn an instrument... many of the greats started when they were kids. My friend has been playing since he was 6, and he's 18 now and he's amazing... but still, I've heard better.

Isn't that the point? It would be pretty boring...

Its nine oclock on a saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
Theres an old man sitting next to me
Makin love to his tonic and gin
He says, son, can you play me a memory?
Im not really sure how it goes
But its sad and its sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger mans clothes
La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da
Chorus:
Sing us a song, youre the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, were all in the mood for a melody
And youve got us feelin alright
Now john at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And hes quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But theres someplace that hed rather be
He says, bill, I believe this is killing me.
As the smile ran away from his face
Well Im sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place
Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da
Now paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And hes talkin with davy whos still in the navy
And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, theyre sharing a drink they call loneliness
But its better than drinkin alone
Chorus
Its a pretty good crowd for a saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
cause he knows that its me theyve been comin to see
To forget about life for a while
And the piano, it sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say, man, what are you doin here?
Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da da

I play, it's pretty fun and easy to learn. I'm rusty though. The only thing that's tough about it IMO is when both hands are playing different rhythms and such. You have too be pretty coordinated to play the hard stuff.

That's hilarious. That was the first "real" song I learned to play on the piano.
