Will a head unit that has USB and ipod control, like the Eclipse CD5030 I just bought be able to play AAC (iTunes) files even though the deck does not support AAC?

If I can't play songs bought off iTunes I'll just return it and pick up a Kenwoood KW-X993.

Dammit... stupid fucking iTunes, that's what I figured. Looks like the Eclipse will go back and I'll be picking up a x993

Have you tried converting the files to mp3? Not hard to do

Yes, but these are bought off iTunes, they come in as .m4a which I think are AAC

Yeah, but converting from one lossy format to another lossy format = :crap:

I was in a local stereo shop talking to a guy that was at CES. He said what he heard was they were scaling back, not completely pulling out. ( this store did not carry Eclipse)

I converted all my iTunes stuff from AAC to high quality MP3 and it still sounds just fine in my car.
