View Full Version : Installing O2 sensors on an F150 isn't as easy as I thought...

I got cuts on my hands and fingers. Burns on my arms. 22mm & 7/8's wrench were too long. The O2 socket seemed like a waste of money.
But all of that didn't care as I tried one of man's greatest inventions as a last resort, Vice Grips! They were a godsend!
Round #2 is coming up as I now have to change out the intake plenum gaskets and PCV valve.

You do know they sell a socket that allows easy removal of 02 sensors.
Good luck on that gasket....stupid plastic gaskets.

Some parts stores will rent those tools. You might try that next time.

I had to call my brother and ask him to come over to take my O2's out. I could get to them, I just didn't have any leverage to force them open. It was easy once they were broken loose. I should chance my PCV valve... though not sure where or what it is.

Interesting.
I have had no issue with socket.
Sometimes socket + extension + cast iron pipe

Well considering where mine were located, there wasn't much room to actually use the wrenchs and sockets.

I have the o2 sensors turned OFF with my tune :)
When I did replace them, they were a pain in the ass though.

I let it run for a couple minutes then turned it off and sprayed some kind of cooling spray on them and watched the rust break off.

PCV valve on my car is a fuckin whore to get to. I'm glad I changed it when I swapped the motor last year.
