Can this take S/PDIF in, or is it just S/PDIF out?
Mobo is some Gigbyte one, fuck if I know which. I s'pose I can check if necessary.

I've got better shit to do... I still think about posting shit sometimes... but then I get lazy.
Someone make an iPhone app that allows it to be streamlined and I'll post more.

Why do you need an in?

I recently got a new recording interface (XLR, MIDI, 1/4" Jack kind of shit.) and it ends up being, basically, an external audio card... however I don't want to route all of my audio through it, so I want to do the S/PDIF out of the interface, into my computer, and have my computer process it and have it come out of my computer's speakers... for now.
I'm eventually gunna get a receiver, and route both through the receiver.

I've never had one that had an in, only out.

That's what I figured, but I hoped it would have in.

Even one of those won't have S/PDIF in.

well look. only genius's can figure out how to record and edit things using a computer anyway. they're very complicated devices. you're just going to have to use a reel to reel like everyone else scottjew.

Was trying to avoid that. Already spent a lot of money this month.

im sure you can pick up a reel to reel pretty cheap.

You don't need SPDIF in anyway. Really. Just use RCA jacks or a stereo jack. It's really pointless to have your Audio processor do the work, and then have your PC do it all over again.

But wouldn't the extra D/A conversion add a bit of noise to the recording? I'm pretty sure that's what he wants to avoid.

That's what I'm saying. Or tried to say. Take whatever he's making noise with and put it straight to the PC. Let the PC process it. OR, just use his audio processor and go straight to speaks. Using both is silly.

Yeah, what I was saying was that he may be wanting to use SPDIF/Optical to keep the source material digital through it's transistion. Rather than, converting it to analog to travel through RCAs, then back to digital...thus eliminating the extra D/A conversion, resulting in less thermal noise.

Ah, gotcha. Depends on what he's using though. More details are needed.

Actually, I just wanted to use my speakers as computer / monitor speakers by having the interface play back through the computer.
However... it was too much work.
