The man for taking his $185K car to Circuit City for a stereo installation, or the store employee?

They posted this on CA last night.

I dunno, man. CC is a credible company. You can't expect him to know that most bays do shitty jobs.
But, the employee is an idiot for not knowing how to drive.

The employee is also an idiot for not maintaining professionalism and taking the guy's car for a joyride.

It falls on CC cause they had possession of the car when the accident happened

He should have known better, but once you hand the keys to them, they're liable.

fyi if you read the comments he filed the suit 6 months after the fact lmao!

And DB, I understood the point you were trying to make. He's a dumbass for bringing his car to a place that installs like shit enabling the highschooler with raging testosterone to fuck up his car

i guess the guy claims it wasn't a "joyride", he took the car out tothe parking lot when it was done from what I understand.

Still his fault though. They break it, they should pay for it...BUT i don't think the guy will win, he waited to long.

The damage was caused by an accident while the vehicle was in the hands of Circuit City. So, therefor I would say that Circuit City is liable for the damage to the vehicle. However, the only place in my opinion where things get iffy is if the employee was 'joy riding' or moving the car for work purpose. If he was moving the car for a job totally within the scope of his job then CC is probably liable again and he wouldn't be. However, if he was screwing off then CC should try to push all the legal action and cost off on the guy.

If CC wasn't a piss poor company they would have just filed the insurance claim and called it a day. But, meh.

Wow you guys are really siding with the guy here? Is it CC's fault that some asshat brought in his expensive car and gave it to their 'special' employee? I think not

I think CC should file a countersuit against the guy for the amount of emotional damage he is probably doing to the employee at this point.

I wish him luck. I agree he will get a judgment in his favor of some kind, but I am unsure of him actually getting all of the money from a bankrupt company(although I guess the insurance carrier at the time would have to pay it out, not sure) and I hope they don't think suing some kid who made jack diddly and has no job now will get them 50k lol.

I think it's pretty clear that wealthy guy was just trying to rub his money in the face of some retard. Who drives a 185k car and brings it to CC or BB for an install? Come on now...he obviously has the money to bring it to a real shop, but chose not to.

Not everyone is aware that CC is a crappy install company.

Does that make CC or the punk kids liability any less?

I would also like to point out that ignorance is in all economic classes. He honestly may not have known or cared to know what B&M shops of good caliber are in his area. He know BB and CC. He had a good experience buying his huge plasma and home stereo there, so why not go in for a new dash unit and speaker replacements?

Truth... In some aspects they do an alright job. They obviously don't do custom work, but I can think of a lot of 'local' shops that would do a worse job than CC.

Nope, liability doesn't follow stupidity. It would be interesting in other cases if it did.

Ya, the question was rhetorical and facetious. The guys stupidity or ignorance of other stores is just irrelevant.

I agree it is very tempting to try and blame people for taking their $185k to a place like circuit city instead of maybe researching a shop well known for its quality work.
