Pros (IMO): Waterproof, shockproof, uses SD media (which I have lots of)
Cons (IMO): Slower start up time, have heard that it takes a while to record pics, have heard mixed results about the pic quality, less features.

I keep going back and forth on them... I feel like the Sony is the better camera, but I also feel like I would really like the waterproofness of the Olympus. But at the same time, I want something that is going to be able to take good pictures very quickly.

The olympus hands down ,I have a old olympus 2MP and it still works like new . now sony on the other hand is meh at best i got a sony handycam that dose disk and memory stick and not even 5 months after i got it the battery went to shit. So if I was up to me i would go with the olympus. I mean think about it you could take a picture of the hossausage in the shower what other reason do you need.

The camera it is replacing is a sony DSC-M1, which I had for about 8 or 9 years. It took to abuse pretty well, but I also tried to take care of it as best as I could. I am leaning towards the olympus because of the durability, and the shower thing. But still feel like the Sony really is a better camera :crap: . And I like the speed of it, fast start up, fast write speed, really fast sequential pic shooting (10 fps)...

Been discussed ITT, want something to take quick easy snapshots and vids with, specifically of my new niece, since I dont always keep the lens on the DSLR. I didnt neccisarily want another gadget, but at the time the iPhone simply was not an option. The camera on the iphone is absolutly flawless at taking fuzzy indistinguishable pictures that you can do little to nothing with. If the camera on the new iPhone is better, I will consider it.

But in the mean time, a camera is still the only option.
