I updated my desk top... well, I actually have Pierce's background as mine. But this is before I re-set my background. I'm using Rocket Dock. I actually set it to auto-hide (and repositioned the dock so that it's on the top of the screen instead.)

Ubuntu is good for everyday stuff. OpenOffice, web browsing, etc. Gaming sucks on it, which is why I've never done Linux full time. My dedicated folding boxes/storage are all Linux though. A mix of Arch and Ubuntu.

It's not that difficult if you immerse yourself in it. I've custom rolled my own kernels, etc. Compiling your own stuff isn't really that hard once you get the hang of it.

Yeah, installing stuff can be a pain, however APT-GET is an awesome tool! As well as Pacman in Arch.

That is one thing I actually wasn't bitching about. I already had my GT9500 vid card w/HDMI out, that's why I used it rather than using integrated. ;)

There are many integrated video cards > my external card.

Truth be told, I was actually thinking about picking up another card and taking advantage of the crossfireX capability.

Other than that, everything has been running smooth as silk. :)

Actually thought about doing a few more upgrades when I get the cash and get a SSD for the main HDD and do a RAID setup with the 2 drives I have already. Prices on SSD's have started to drop a little bit. If I see a good deal on newegg I might grab one.

Fuck, just what I need, another expensive and addicting hobby.

Originally I was gonna get the 10k velociraptor for the main HDD, but that shit was just too expensive.

As soon as SSD's get into the $100 range (which I think will be soon), then I'm gonna do that.

And yeah, if I do RAID, I'm gonna do RAID 0+1 so I don't end up with the problem you had. Just takes a lot of money to do that since I would need 2 more HDD's on top of the one for the OS.

RAID5, not 0+1. 5 uses parity for redundancy instead of mirror. This allows you to use 3 drives instead of four.
