I'm always looking for helpful are just cool software for my pc and I find the easiest way to find it is to just ask around. I thought we could post software on here that we find to be the awesome or just helpful.

TaskSwitchXP is an advanced task management utility that picks up where the standard Windows Alt+Tab switcher leaves off. It provides the same functionality, and adds visual styles to the dialog and also enhances it by displaying thumbnail preview of the application that will be switched to.

Came installed with my version of XP and I like it.

Don't know if this applies, but I just downloaded a weather channel screen saver. I think it's cool. Shows the weather and snapshots of places showing the same conditions.

This is pretty handy. You can make a free customizable toolbar with the weather, quick link to all replies to Crunktimes...etc

If there are any linux fans out there, deskspace is a pretty cool program if you like to be able to have multiple workspaces (desktops). The only thing is it uses about 65 megs when it runs, but it hasn't affected my performance yet with 2 gigs and XP. There's a good cracked copy on demonoid. I'll send someone over a file if they can't find a crack. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like: There's a bunch of skins for it though.

You can have mouse/key gestures for doing various operations like closing programs, minimizing etc.

synergy

amazing for when you want one keyboard/mouse and 2 completely independent machines. I use this at work with my laptop as the primary and the work machine as the slave....this way I don't even have a keyboard on the desk.

I use this thing called TuneUp Utilities. It supposed to help keep the registry clean and computer performance. I am not sure how well it works compared to similar programs.

Check into Rocket-Dock. I managed to cut everything on my desktop down to this little bar. It basically emulates the Mac OS's taskbar at the bottom. But, lemme say, it's dope.

Here's it in action on my desktop:

There's a bunch of different themes, icons, etc. So far, I love it. Very helpful / useful.

(It works for Windows 2K, XP, and Vista.)
