Lately, money's been tight. My school's 6.86 miles from my house (according to Mapquest.) I figure I could get a bike for like $45 bucks.

The pros would be exercise, no gas money necessary, I don't have to give bitch ass niggas rides.
The cons would be the time it takes to ride. I get out of class at 9:30, so the average speed of someone riding a bicycle is between 15 mph and 20 mph, that'd take between 1/2 an hour and 20 minutes. Which means I'd get home at around 10 PM. Another con would be the fact that I'm sweaty. However, I suppose I could shower at school, which would brings up another con: currently I use my car as a locker. However, I only use one book all day, the rest is just composition note books and the like. If I wanted to shower at school, that'd mean I'd have to add a towel + change of clothes which would take up even more room.

Thoughts?

I do not think a bike would be the best option. Unless it's all downhill coming home 15-20 is not going to be a standard speed your going to keep for 7 miles on a 45 dollar bike. If you had a higher end bike with better parts and a lower frame rate, possibly.

Get a job?

I've been trying, however it's nearly impossible to get a job in Miami right now. Even people who hate their jobs and are barely getting hours aren't bitching about it.

And Pl8r, Florida is flat. Completely flat. No such thing as up or down hill. And I'm not looking for "the best option." I'm looking for the cheapest way, and the best way for the cheapest way.

Walking is by far the cheapest option. Hell, i run about 5 miles in a circle every day... dont tell me you cant do that to a destination .

It's possible, but not physically reasonable. Run 6-3/4 miles to school, stay in school for 9 hours, then run 6-3/4 miles back...? Not really reasonable. Not ot mention it'd take a long time

Hell yes you should. If I worked anywhere near 6miles Id do it for sure. I can ride 20 miles in an hour...so it would be less than a 15 minute trip. (I usually slow after 15 miles.

I looked on Craigslist and I saw some old-ish Road bikes for $50-60 bucks. Not sure if I should get those vs. a mountain bike.

Any thoughts on this?

For a daily commute personally Id get a mountain bike. Never know what you have to ride over and most of them will be ~25 lbs which is decent on weight.

Yeah. I just realized that road bikes don't have comfortable seats. Well, the two I've ridden didn't.

My Mohawk will distract the driver long enough for me to react and use my Jew-Jitsu prowess to dodge the car.
