A Warner Robins liquor-store clerk was sentenced to 180 days in jail for selling alcohol to a minor who later died in a fatal accident.
Three other people also pleaded guilty to alcohol charges Wednesday in the Oct. 9, 2008 death of Donnie Brock, according to a news release from Houston County district attorney Kelly Burke.
Last year, a Houston County grand jury indicted more than a dozen people in connection with the case.
District attorney Burke says he wanted to send a clear message about selling alcohol to minors.
Police say 19-year-old Donald Paul Brock plowed through two yards and a fence and into the side of a home on Arrowhead Trail in Warner Robins. Police say he was driving drunk.
According to Burke, Brock had been at a party with other teens and drinking heavily.
He said Bruce Jenkins, a clerk at Bootleggers Liquor Store, sold alcohol to Brock without checking his ID.
According to Burke, Jenkins will serve three years probation after he serves 180 days in the county jail. He has to pay a $1000 fine and fees. He also has to perform 80 hours of community service at a local non-profit agency. He is prohibited from drinking alcohol while he is on probation.
