A Warner Robins liquor-store clerk was sentenced to 180 days in jail for selling alcohol to a minor who later died in a fatal accident.

Three other people also pleaded guilty to alcohol charges Wednesday in the Oct. 9, 2008 death of Donnie Brock, according to a news release from Houston County district attorney Kelly Burke.

Last year, a Houston County grand jury indicted more than a dozen people in connection with the case.

District attorney Burke says he wanted to send a clear message about selling alcohol to minors.

Police say 19-year-old Donald Paul Brock plowed through two yards and a fence and into the side of a home on Arrowhead Trail in Warner Robins. Police say he was driving drunk.

According to Burke, Brock had been at a party with other teens and drinking heavily.

He said Bruce Jenkins, a clerk at Bootleggers Liquor Store, sold alcohol to Brock without checking his ID.

According to Burke, Jenkins will serve three years probation after he serves 180 days in the county jail. He has to pay a $1000 fine and fees. He also has to perform 80 hours of community service at a local non-profit agency. He is prohibited from drinking alcohol while he is on probation.

i would of just denied i sold them anything.

i mean honestly, most of the people that work in liquor stores are the ones who actually own the store. i would of got rid of the tape.

the kids either steal the liquor or buy it. they're still gonna get it and someone else is gonna pay for it.

the retard didnt deserve to die, but alas, its one less idiot on the road.

Is the passenger side mirror backwards?

Well GAWD, that probably reflected some bright light at an oncoming car, causing them to swerve and almost hit the kids in the G35. Thus the reason they hit the brick house :fyi:

WARNER ROBINS — Several people have entered plea agreements related to the case of a Warner Robins teenager who wrecked and died after becoming intoxicated at a party.

Donald Paul Brock, 19, died from injuries he sustained after his car crashed into a house on Arrowhead Trail in Warner Robins, authorities said. The party was at a Kathleen home in October.

Woody Marshall/The Telegraph 3/25/09 A honey bee gathers nectar from a Dogwood tree blossom Wednesday morning. Several other Houston County young adults were drinking at the party, including Brian Kevin Tibbs, 20, who was riding with Brock and who had left the party reportedly driving Brock’s car, authorities said. Brock later took the driver’s seat.

Bruce Jenkins, 44, a Bootleggers Liquor Store clerk, was sentenced Wednesday by Judge George F. Nunn to 180 days in the county jail and three years on probation for selling alcohol to minors, District Attorney Kelly Burke said. Jenkins also was ordered to perform 80 hours of community service and pay $1,000 in fines and fees. He may not drink alcohol while on probation.

Burke also announced several other plea deals:

Ÿ Katherine Ellen Huff, 19, and Bradley Joseph Kimball, 19, who purchased beer for the party and consumed alcohol there, were each sentenced to three years on probation, 80 hours of community service, and $1,000 in fines and fees. They also are prohibited from drinking alcohol while on probation.

Huff pleaded guilty to permitting another person to violate state law, furnishing alcohol and possessing alcohol. Kimball pleaded guilty to furnishing alcohol and possessing alcohol.

Ÿ Brittany Leigh McDuffie, 20, who provided the party location and consumed alcohol at it, was sentenced to three years on probation, $1,000 in fines and fees, 80 hours of community service and no alcohol while on probation. She pleaded guilty to permitting another person to violate state law and possessing alcohol.

Ÿ Kaylie Raquel Hundley, 19, who attended the party, entered into a pretrial diversion program. If she completes 12 months of probation, the charges of furnishing alcohol and possessing alcohol will be dismissed, and the charges will be expunged. She also was fined $200, must complete 80 hours of community service and cannot consume alcohol while on probation.

Three others previously entered pleas in the case. Chad Anthony Hamilton, 20, Justin Kyle Sigmon, 19, and Richard Alan Rubinski, 20, who all attended the party, received pretrail diversion, were ordered to serve 12 months on probation, were fined $200, were ordered to complete 80 hours of community service and cannot consume alcohol while on probation. If each one successfully completes probation, the charges of furnishing alcohol and possession of alcohol against each also will be expunged, Burke said.

All of the young people also were required to attend an alcohol awareness course as a part of their sentences.

Originally, Jenkins, McDuffie, Huff and Kimball were each indicted by a Houston County grand jury on a vehicular homicide charge. Jenkins’ plea agreement included serving six months in the county jail after he took responsibility for his part in selling alcohol to minors, Burke said.

“It was never our intent for the young people involved in this case to go to prison,” Burke said. “They lost a friend that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. It could have been any one of them.”

Burke said he hopes the case served as a wake-up call, not only to those involved but to all who heard about the case: There are serious consequences for drinking under age.

Meanwhile, Nealkanth Patel, 28, the store owner, Tibbs, and Lindi Nicole Skeen, 20, were each charged with vehicular homicide and are awaiting trial. Trey Hilderbrand, 20, who was charged with possessing alcohol underage at the party, has not yet been to court.
