Shit is harder than it looks, at least for me. Went out with my gf and her brother this morning, they wakeboard from their jetski. I couldn't get up out of the water to save my life. Tried literally like 20 times with no real success. Thought it wouldn't be too hard because I'm a fairly experienced snowboarder, but gettin up sucks! Any wakeboarders here with advice? I'm determined.

Quick tip: When they just start pulling you, swing your front tip up out of the water (as close to parallel to the line of motion of the boat) and keep it above the surface as much as possible. Don't expect to get up with the board sideways (perpendicular to the boat) the way you would stand up from a sitting position on a snowboard.
At least that's what worked for me, but I'm no where near "good".

im only 140, jet ski has plenty of power to pull, her brother is bigger than me and does just fine. that turbo honda can cruise! it seemed like most of the times it accelerated too quickly. the board would just get caught under water and then the rope riped out of my hands.

How long does it take for a rope to ripen? Is it like a tomato?

alright thanks for the advice. i read online that it helps to start with one arm on either side of your front knee so im gonna try that next time along with them accelerating slower.

Jet ski is not the best option to learn to wake board behind. The jet ski has plenty of power to pull. It's the angle of the rope pull on a towered wake boarding boat that makes it easier to get out of the water for beginners. A boom is even easier

I kept reading the title as "waterboarding."

yeah I think you're right, plus I think their tow rope was pretty long
