????

Should have mentioned I think the ethernet port is fubar'd on the ps3, I've tried several cables and all work with my laptop but won't allow me to connect the ps3. It won't pull an IP address or anything.

Open to tips on trying to test this out as well.

Will also mention that range isn't a huge deal either, router and ps3 would be in the same room about 20 feet apart.

Local places seem to mostly have d-link and linksys. Don't even see a netgear at the two major places. Staples or walmart.

I have a d-link works fine for me, that whole group is pretty much the norm of what most people who are just looking for the basics get.

The only problems I had with gaming was I could not have any other wired or wireless traffic going on the network or it would lag like a mofo and the issue with streaming anything HD and I mean real HD not 'HDTV' you download which never seemed top really have a problem.

Yeah, I'm not looking to stream anyway. It's simply so I can watch Syko and PM team kill each other all night.

Good thinking.

I don't actually need a router, but upgrading to N would be sweet. My Buffalo has been a tank for 6 years though and with the included repeater I have range all day.

I'm assuming other than future use I won't see any benefit in getting a Wireless N router if all my equipment is set up for G. Correct?

Almost all the information you have given ITT points towards no but there would still be benefits even if you didn't utilize them (i.e. wider range, no upgrading in the future, better processing for heavy traffic/firewalls, etc.).

DING!

Dual networks on the one I recommended. Better managing of the router, all ports are gigabit.

Easy to configure priority management, etc.

Sounds good and looks like I should be able to pick it up in the next day or two... I hope.

If you've got DSL, I've got a LBNIB 2Wire modem/router.

After you get it set the way you like safe the config file to a computer. So if you have any issues or get a new one, its all ready with the click of a button.

Set a STRONG password. N goes much further than G so more people will see the SSID

Thanks, just need the router though. When I'm at work I stay in a camp (read pretty much like a mediocre hotel and we have internet to our rooms, just not wi-fi.

You're welcome.

Bought, now the place I'm in this shift my PS3 is working. Debating about returning it and getting nearly $100 back or keeping it. Leaning towards keeping, that shareport idea is badass (b-a-d if the filter changes it).
